A reluctant hetrosexual polyamorist

Another G-Flat work in progress…

Most of the characters in this song are fictitious. Susan, my wife, wants everyone to know that the female protagonist in no way resembles her and none of the male characters are me.

We are hosting a professional double bassist, David Horn, for the Mendocino Music Festival. We got lucky cuz he felt like playing some pop/rock/country so I dragged him over to the studio to play some standup bass on this tune.

Sort of an AfroPop nursery rhyme

This song was largely written by Peter. He let me tweak a note here and there and smoosh some of the lyrics. This was recorded at G-Flat. The singer is Amanda…as soon as I find out her last name I will post it.

We did this tune in response to a Taxi opportunity. It is sort of an Afro-Pop nursery rhyme.

Animal discrimation

Here is another collaboration with Michael Gutierrez-May…a children’s tune…fun and silly, silly, silly.

Here is “I Hate Geese”:

Sigh, yawn, snooze

I am crashing and burning on the fifty/ninety challenge (50 songs in 90 days) but here is a fun tune. The lyrics where written by a fellow fiftyninty’er named Michael Gutierrez-May after seeing a recent movie (I bet you can guess the name of the movie).

So here is Sigh, Yawn, Snooze:

Bicycle heaven

This was inspired by some object writing based on some childhood memories.

Pre-chopper bikes, Sting Rays, were all the rage and Batman was on TV.

Workplace romance

This song started with a hook and some ideas from Peter, was plotted out by Chris (me) and the heavy lyrical lifting was done by Robert.

With this song, I decided to make an extra effort to stay away from blues and country. Because I am a guitar player this is quite a challenge.

With the singing, I was determined not to drop my g’s and to articulate as much a possible (e.g. sing ‘little’ instead of ‘liddle’).

For the intro riff, I sang some high-harmonies then ran them through an autowah.

As always, this could stand a lot more work but I gotta move on to the next song for now.

Beach music – maybe….

Robert originally wrote these lyrics for a punky slightly surf thing but they did not end up getting used.

I was inspired by the guitar sounds he sent me (reverb at 100%, bridge pickup, open strings, jangly). I also had great fun with the bass part.

Of course, this being the madness that is 50/90 everything is not quite right.

So here is my so not punk version of the tune.

Just sheer unadulterated fun

This is another 50/90 with Justin (aka Negasi) up at the fiftyninety.fawmers.org site. He is a young gifted writer….such fun to put music to his stuff.

This lyric inspired me to do an acapella thing..bad french accent and all.

Here is I Am an Apple.

Time to rock out, love and bleed

Song #3 .. or is it 4? of 50…..another collaboration with Robert DePriest.

Fun rock tune! Got use some rasty guitar feedback!

Here is Love and Bleeding.

Another new genre – alt boy band

This is another collaboration with the great Robert DePriest.

My wife says it reminds her of the Back Street Boys but with acoustic guitar.

I could easily spend a month working on this one but…I have to do 48 more songs in …84 days.

So here is Where We Are.
